This is an 1894-dated, 3rd Type rifle that has 85-90% blue remaining on the barrel with traces of gray fading at the muzzle, and scattered spots of mild freckling on the balance. The receiver has a commensurate amount of original blue, with spots of mild freckling that carry over onto the magazine door. The bolt has a mostly bright gray patina along the body, with dark freckling mixing in on the shroud, cocking-piece, and handle. The extractor has turned to a blue-brown patina with hints of bright nitre blue around the edges. A correct Model 1892 rear sight is fitted. The walnut stock has a legible "JSA / 1895" cartouche, with small handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about the reapplied military oil finish. A correct all-steel cleaning rod is still present. This is one of very few Model 1892 Krags to escape conversion to Model 1896 specs, and is in very good-fine condition overall.
