 A Desirable & Scarce CDV Of Confederate Used Castle Thunder Prison Looking Northeast In Fine Untouched Condition. All original & complete. Castle Thunder was a tobacco warehouse converted to a prison used by the Confederacy to house civilian prisoners, captured Union Spies, political prisoners, and those charged with treason during the American Civil War. A large number of inmates were sentenced to death. Dr. Mary E. Walker, the only woman who ever received the "Medal Of Honor" was also held there.
