Description:
This is a Winchester Model 1895, a sporting rifle in the scarce .35 WCF caliber. The serial number dates it's manufacture to 1926 . This rifle has a 24" barrel with an exceptionally nice bore, it is bright , sharp lands and grooves the whole way, easily a 9+ bore - hard to find a 100 year old bore this nice from a gun used for hunting, and during the depression era. Mechanically the rifle is excellent, it feeds, fires and ejects perfectly, this was a rifle carried more than shot. It has nice markings and excellent screws. It has a rear Lyman 41 receiver sight - these are very study sights with an internal gear, adjustable for elevation and windage - the small front flip down aperature is missing. The rear barrel has a filler blank, and the front sight is a Lyman with a white bead. The rifle has good solid wood, showing carry wear, and numerous small scratches and marks from honest use, some original finish remaining. I wish I knew what animals this rifle has taken... The blueing on the rifle is better than average also, the receiver has a high pertentage remaining with normal carry wear and loss. The barrel has nice blueing with some honest wear also, just smooth with no blood stains, pitting, etc. Overall this is a great rifle in a powerful 35 caliber , ready for the next 100 years. **** This is a modern gun and must ship to a FFL for transfer, C&R okay.
