Description:
In the mid to late 1800s Personal Defense was a necessity in America: While firearms were common, fixed-blade knives were in demand for defense and utility.  Stag was highly valued for handles due to its durability, natural grip, and beauty. The brass guard indicates a designed for combat use. Knives with double-edged blades, were produced by local blacksmiths and frequently made by specialized American makers.
This knife and sheath is just that. The blade has no nicks and the tip is sharp.  It remains in very good condition considering its age.  The sheath has been added and a nice job at that. The knife measures 13 1/4" long, with the blade being 8 3/4" long.
