Description: This pre-WWI Belgian double marked “August Francotte a Liege,” is a nice example of the quality craftsmanship coming out of Liege at the turn-of-the-century. Gun features lightly-figured french walnut, rose-and-scroll engraving, with 28" Damascus barrels with ample wall thickness throughout. I love the matted rib, and the perfectly-executed doll's head extension! Stock dimensions: 14 1/2" LOP over a decelerator pad, with drops of 1 3/4" and 2 1/2" and moderate cast-off for the right-handed shot. Gun is well-balanced, and handles quite nicely! No choke (cyl/cyl) makes it a great little gun for close-flushing birds like grouse and woodcock, preserve pheasants, or for a round of skeet. There are light handling marks, minor dings and scratches, and evidence of previous dent repair or minor corrosion, consistent with that of a well-cared-for working gun over 125 years old. Good wall thickness and good bores. Tight and on-face. Very good wood to metal fit. A quality vintage shooter for an affordable price! As always, any vintage gun should be carefully inspected by a competent gunsmith familiar with vintage doubles prior to firing. Reasonable offers considered. Certified Check or Money Order only. FFL required; C&R OK. 3-day, non-firing inspection. If you have any questions, please contact us. Thanks for looking!
