Offered is a highly distinctive and exceptionally well-preserved Colt Single Action Army revolver, manufactured in 1929 and shipped in July of that year to Harry Burkhart, Jr. This revolver remains in very fine, minty condition and represents an outstanding example of Colt’s late-production Single Action Army during the transitional smokeless-powder era.
The revolver is chambered in .38 caliber and will shoot modern .38 Special ammunition. Early .38 Special Single Action Armies are of particular interest to collectors, as they reflect Colt’s adaptation of its most famous revolver to modern cartridges during the late 1920s—a period when production numbers were comparatively low and the model was no longer a mass-market arm. These early examples are notably scarce today and are increasingly sought after for both historical significance and shootability.
The revolver remains completely original and unaltered with the sole exception of the custom grips.
