Description: Offered here is a Remington Model 1894, BE double barrel shotgun, with ejectors and lovely 30" fine damascus barrels in the scarce 16 ga configuration. The 1894 was offered in 3 gauges, 10, 12, and 16, with 16 gauge models being by far the most scarce of the three. Note the graceful widow's peak to a Remington buttplate on the original stock; a hallmark feature of the 1894, that speaks to the quality of workmanship with which these guns were made. More often than not, you will notice other 1894's have had this swapped out for a rubber butt pad. Many 1894's saw heavy field/shooting use, and as such, there are few survivors in as good condition as this one is! Gun has some light scratches and handling marks typical for a wokring gun of this age, some oil staining on the wood, but overall, stocks are solid and gun is tight and on face and is in very nice condition overall, with approximately 60% of the original damascus pattern visible. The gun's chambers have not been extended or opened up, and are in their original configuration. We have enjoyed shooting this gun at vintage shoots and on preserve pheasants. While all of Remington's model 1894's were advertised to be made for Nitro/smokeless powders, we recommend having a qualified doublegunsmith check over the gun prior to firing, and to select appropriate loads for the gun. **Please note, that vintage Remington 1894 field guns are graded with A as the base model, B as the intermediate grade, and grades C-E the highest grades. An 1894 designed for trap (designated F grade) was also made, with a specific set of characteristics such as heavier overall weight and a straighthand stock -- these are roughly comparable in grade to the B grades. Here is an honest, quality, American double that is as as finely made as any American double. This lovely example stands ready for you to take it afield, and may it take you back to a simpler time!
