This is a pre - 1876 rifle the year Harris Holland changed the name to Holland & Holland taking his nephew Henry Holland as a partner. The rifle has an overall smooth plumb brown patina on the barrel. Has” H. Holland 98 New Bond Street. London” marking along the top. 380 CF stamped on the side of the barrel. Traces of blue remain at the breech which carries over to the protected areas of the frame which is otherwise also a mellow plumb-brown color as well as the side lever. The wedge –fastened checkered Walnut forearm and pistol gripped buttstock are in fine condition with minor handling marks mainly on the left side of the butt. The rifle is fitted with the original Barleycorn front sight and a two leaf rear sight. Lock up is tight and mechanical function is fine. This rifle will chamber and fire 38 short colt cartridges.
