Description:
Serial #198915, .45-70 Gov’t., 32 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome rifle that has an overall smooth plum-brown patina, with scattered spots of mild surface freckling throughout, and mottled gray-brown on the breechblock and lockplate. The sights are correct for this model, and the "low-arch" breechblock has visible muted color case-hardening on the underside. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and minor surface blemishes scattered about the added military oil finish, while the "SWP / 1882" cartouche is still legible on the left side of the wrist. A modern checkered walnut pistol-grip extension has been added to the underside of the wrist. This is a very nice original Trapdoor, and is in very good plus condition. Antique;
