Description:
HIGH CONDITION 1892 .25-20 ROUND BARREL RIFLE, #394XXX, MADE 1907. Most of these .25-20s were farm and ranch guns that saw heavy use and often abuse. This one retains deep bright receiver and bolt blue with only some plum/brown mixing on the upper tang and receiver bottom by the serial number and the slightest of edge aging. There are a few very surface “chatter marks” on the right side of the receiver below the loading gate that are very minor and hardly worth mentioning. The barrel and magazine tube retain all the deep original blue. Even the forend cap shows good blue with some plum mixing. Original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and Winchester blade front sight. Excellent stock and forend showing the lightest of handling with tight wood to metal fit. The stock is of a higher than standard grade of walnut showing more figure than usual. Action is tight, half-cock is strong and bore is excellent. Excellent receiver screw heads don’t look turned. A really fine and attractive 119 year old 1892.
