Description:
Austrian STEYR PIEPER M1909 .25 ACP Self-Defense SEMI-AUTOMATIC Pistol C&R

CONCEAL & CARRY Made circa 1919 with 2 EXTRA MAGS

Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Steyr Pieper Model 1909 Second Series Semi-Automatic Pistol, made circa 1919 by Oesterreichische Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft, Steyr, Austria. The initial design comes from Belgian inventor Nicholas Pieper. It was very popular with military and police officers in Austria-Hungary. It holds 6 shots of .25 ACP in the magazine and features a tip-down barrel. It is a handsome little pocket pistol in fabulous condition.

Production of the First Series began somewhere around early 1909. The first manual, which appeared in May 1909, shows a First Series gun with the serial number 5001A. The First Series runs from serial number 5001A to approximately 42000A. There were refinement made to the second series of guns, which extends from approximately serial number 42001A to 129500A, with production beginning sometime in 1912, Beginning in 1922, the inscription on the left side of the upper receiver housing is changed, with the addition of MADE IN AUSTRIA, indicating a greater effort to market the gun outside the German speaking world. In the Third Series, which appeared in 1931, running from approximately serial number 129160A to 131000A. It was by far the most scarce. Current estimates put production at only around 1850 pistols made before production ended.

The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish. Excellent grips. The markings are legible and clear. The action is strong. Bright bore with sharp rifling. This example includes two spare magazines.
