Description:
Serial #19774, .50 Spencer RF, 20" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a US-inspected carbine that has matching numbers on the receiver and barrel. The barrel retains 85-90% of the original bright blue, with scattered patches of mild surface freckling present. The frame has a commensurate amount of the original bright color case-hardening that carries over onto the hammer, lockplate, and barrel band. Bright fire blue is still present on the Stabler cut-off switch, some of the screw heads, and the band retainer. The walnut forend and buttstock have only minor handling marks in the otherwise fine original military oil finish, and the "ESA" (Erskine S. Allin) cartouche is crisp and clear on the left side of the wrist. The magazine tube is in very good shape with a functional spring and follower and the mechanism is still tight and fully functional. This is an excellent Indian Wars Spencer overall. Antique;
