Description:
IMPERIAL RUSSIAN WWI Nagant M1895 TULA Arsenal Revolver w/LEATHER HOLSTER

1915 WORLD WAR I Manufactured w/Cleaning Rod

Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Imperial Russian Nagant Model 1895 Revolver with a Leather Holster made at the Tula Arsenal in Russia, circa 1915. This was the primary sidearm of Imperia Russia during the First World War. This one bears the Tula arsenal mark and a date of 1915.

This is a seven shot revolver chambered for 7.62x38mmR and features the “gas seal” system. This involves the cylinder moving forward when the gun is cocked to create a seal between the barrel. This provided a boost to the velocity of the projectile by eliminating cylinder gap. Leon Nagant is to be credited with this unusual system. He was quite the inventor and gun maker. The M1895 was made in both single and double action, though the double action design eventually became the default. The M1895 Nagant was reliable and was used by the Soviet Union military all the way up to about 1952, when it was replaced by the Makarov pistol.

This example is arsenal refurbished. The grips are excellent without much wear to note. The markings are legible. Numbers match on the frame and triggerguard. “I.O. MONROE / NC” import marked. The action is robust. Bright bore with sharp rifling. The leather holster is in good condition with cleaning rod.

This is a very nice example of a fantastic piece of Russian history.
