"Serial No. 404138, manufactured in September 1918, chambered in .30-06 with a 26"" round barrel marked “W / Flaming Bomb / 8-18." The bore is bright with strong, well-defined rifling. The finish has thinned to an even grey patina with noticeable high-edge wear, consistent with wartime service. The bolt is marked “R." The stock is good, showing expected handling impressions from use and storage. Overall, this is an honest late-WWI Winchester-produced Model 1917 that retains its service character. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
