This is Das Original Mauser 98 chambered in .375 H&H, featuring a less expensive and frankly much more attractive blued finish on the bolt and extractor. Featuring a double square bridge Magnum Mauser action of the same dimensions as the legendary prewar actions, one of the modern upgrades is the integral bases machined into the double square bridges to accommodate Recknagle swing-off scope rings—which return to zero after scope removal for travel, for example. The stocks are made from Turkish walnut officially classified by the Mauser factory as Wood Grade 5, but frankly this rifle should have been graded as a 7. Depending upon wood density, the weight is just under 10lbs.

The bottom line: this is a Mauser sporter made in the continuing spirit of the Mauser Oberndorf Type A and B sporters of the prewar golden age, but with modern refinements like Recknagle scope mounts and 3-position, Model 70-style safeties. This is the epitome of a premium working rifle!
