- Origin: It was not a state decoration but a personal gift bestowed by Heinrich Himmler to select members of the Schutzstaffel (SS).
- Design: The sterling silver ring typically features a skull and crossbones (Totenkopf) emblem and is adorned with various runic symbols between oak leaves.
- Inscription: Most of the times the interior is engraved with the recipient's name, the award date, and a facsimile signature of Heinrich Himmler. Engraved in this ring in german is "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" which tranlates into "My Honor is Loyalty"
- Historical Context: The rings served as a symbolic award to promote loyalty and were required to be returned to Himmler upon the recipient's death to be housed in a memorial.
