Description:
Offered for sale is a W.C. Scott 12 gauge side-by-side shotgun, manufactured in 1879, featuring damascus barrels and 2½" chambers. This is a fine example of late-19th-century English gunmaking with strong visual appeal and classic craftsmanship.
Maker History
W.C. Scott & Son was one of the most respected English gunmakers of the Victorian era, based in Birmingham and London. The firm supplied sporting arms to both the British and export markets and was known for combining high-quality materials with skilled engraving and finishing. Scott shotguns from this period are widely regarded for their balance, durability, and refined detailing.
Features & Condition
This shotgun retains beautiful original details, including:
  • Damascus barrels
  • Nitre blued accents
  • Heavy, attractive engraving
  • Original fitted case, bearing a maker’s or retailer’s emblem marked “Norris Williams – Drifton, PA”, adding an interesting American provenance
The lock functions properly, and the gun presents as an honest, well-preserved antique. The strap on the case is broken, and the shotgun shows expected wear consistent with age and use, but overall remains a very attractive and complete example.
Overall Impression
This W.C. Scott is best appreciated as a fine antique sporting gun, ideal for a collector of English doubles, a display piece, or further evaluation by a knowledgeable enthusiast. The combination of engraving, original case, damascus barrels, and historical markings makes this a particularly appealing example.
As with all firearms, inspection prior to use is recommended. Please review all photographs carefully to assess condition and details.
