Payment Types Accepted: USPS MO Description: Here is a really neat Krag. This started life as a 1899 carbine that was updated for use with knife bayonet and gun sling. These are often referred to as Philippine constabulary carbine however only a couple real PCs are known to exists. There were however a few thousand converted to the same or similar spec here in the states by Springfield and Rock Island for use as cadet or school rifles. this is a nice example and exhibits all the features. This started as a 1899 carbine as most were. Carbine hand guard and C marked rear sight (base and ladder). Muzzle has been turned down to accept a bayonet. Shortened rifle stock with perfectly fun nose plug as is seen on arsenal conversions. And the nose cap has been expanded using a mandrill and is perfectly executed. Stock is in good shape with no cracks or breaks. Hand guard has a minor but stable crack. Unfortunately the stock wears no cartouches. The way all the wood is fit and the strong lines on the stock leads me to believe it was sanded at an arsenal, however I have no way to prove this. It may have been bubba……having said that if it weren’t missing cartouches I wouldn’t be able to tell. Also the stock has a fair amount of use and appears to have been like this for some time. Also I have seen examples of guns refurbished at Rock island and many times cartouches weren’t reapplied as done at SA. Either way it is what it is. The bore is excellent! I would say 9/10. Metal is good condition. Overall a really cool hard to find Krag variant. If you have any questions whatsoever please reach out and I will provide any additional photos or information needed. I’m asking 1500 OBO. Price: $1,500.00 Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .30-40 Krag Manufacturer: Springfield Armory Model: 1899 carbine Barrel Length: 22 Condition: Good |
