Attractive original condition Saginaw S.G. M1 military carbine made in 1943 with correctly marked parts to include handguard and stock with near mirror bore and correct manual mechanics.

Description:

U.S. M1 Carbine manufactured by Saginaw Steering Gear in 1943, with an 18" Underwood-manufactured barrel, "N" marked front sight with protective ears, barrel marked "UNDERWOOD, 8-43" over ordnance bomb, "P" proof, blued wide aperture barrel band marked "KV-SG", chamber marked "US CARBINE / CAL. .30 M1", rear flip sight, base marked "S" on left and "B-IP" on right, rear of receiver "SAGINAW S.G. / 1845047", recoil plate blued and internally marked "IP-W". "IP-W" magazine release. The high wood walnut stock has an oval oiler cut, a large squared "SG" cartouche/ordnance wheel on the sight side of the butt, the sling well stamped “RSG", the square checkered buttplate marked "PM-IP" on the left side. Disassembly shows an "RSG" handguard, the stock with a stenciled "14220" in the recess, and an "SG" marked trigger guard and hammer. Blued magazine marked "IS" on spine. Complete with oiler and military green khaki sling.

Condition:

VG+ original condition metal components, most markings lightly cutting through the parkerizing, with sharp edge wear, oxidative changes and areas of congealed grease in keeping with service use. Marks on right side of sight base in keeping with poor adjustment/replacement. VG+ "RSG" marked handguard and stock, the stenciled number typical of Saginaw, with oil darkening and a scattering of handling marks. Near mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics.
