The Vietnam-era U.S. M2 compass is a high-accuracy, pocket-transit surveying instrument designed for artillery, mortar, and engineer units to measure azimuths and angles of site. Key specs included a 0–6400 mil (and sometimes degree) azimuth scale, built-in clinometer, mirror sighting, and an olive drab, heavy-duty composite case.
