Marlin at the old now closed factory about 45 mins from our door produced from approx 1948 the interesting 336 Rifle (not the more common carbine) distinquished by the 24" barrel and half mag, discontinued in 1962 approx and during this time approx 50 k were produced however the Deluxe ADL (this fine example) only approx 5200 or so were Deluxe ADL's and these rarely surface. This one is in the most sought after 35 Rem. and has exceptional wood as many of these had ...this one with fiddleback pretty much thru the entire butt stock and equally handsome forend. These factory hand checkered deluxe (both rifle and carbine versions..we have 2 carbines as well...) were hadsome enough however in 1957 Marlin had the then well known Bishop stock makers design and possibly supply a more attractive and modern looking (think 60's cars with fins) stock ...The earlier ones were called NRA type...and the small number produced from sometime in 1957 to 62 when productions ceased had both a monte carlo comb and a raised cheek piece; this gun is one of the later made in 1960. There is some drying in the stock and the Marlin Bullseye has fallen out (easly replaced by anyone a little handy) These were factory drilled and tapped for scopes. The forward most scope filler screw is missing and the hole a little buggered...it will need to have the threads chased and cleaned up and a new filler screw installed. Or it will be covered by a scope base if a scope is to be added. This still has the front site hood and is in otherwise in uncommon and collector condtion. RARE AND ESP HARD TO FIND IN 35 REM.
