Description:
General Specs: Izhevsk, c1944, 7.62 x 38mmR, 36oz, 6"
Serial Number:  1895S0565

Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer this unique Soviet Target Revolver. In the early 1950s, the Soviets found themselves in need of a competition revolver. Their outdated M1895 Nagant revolvers couldn’t match the accuracy of Western target revolvers, and at the 1954 World Championship in Caracas, the Soviets purchased two Smith & Wesson revolvers on-site, leading the team to win gold and set a world record. This spurred the Soviets to develop a domestic competition revolver; however, the original M1895 service models had been out of production since 1946. Thus, the MTS-4 was created by modifying existing Nagant revolvers with an orthopedic grip, a heavier longer barrel, and adjustable sights. This example, serial number 1895S0565, is in superb condition and still has its gas seal. It retains 98% factory finish on the barrel, receiver, and trigger guard. This Nagant is single action only with a crisp trigger pull, breaking at just 5 pounds with very little creep. What a unique target revolver, and a must for any M1895 Nagant enthusiast. Have a look at the detailed specifications and pictures below. Thanks for looking!
