Beautiful Colt 1911 US Military pistol, late production Black Army variation, beautifully restored by Doug Turnbull, now presenting as new, with photocopy of his restoration services.

Description:

Standard configuration Colt Model 1911 US Military Black Army Pistol, cal .45 ACP, SN: 615031, circa 1918, with 5-inch barrel, fixed front sight and drift adjustable rear sight. Left side of slide bears patent markings "PATENTED APR.20,1897, SEPT.9,1902, DEC.19,1905, FEB.14,1911, AUG.19,1913" / rampant Colt / "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". Right side of slide marked "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" with corresponding frame marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY No 615031". Left side of frame with the Eagle Head acceptance, the lower trigger guardnumbered "65". Checkered walnut grips with large diamonds secured with slotted screws. Army Black finish throughout with two tone magazine, five indicator holes, and integral floorplate stamped "L" on inner toe. Disassembly shows a blued recoil spring guide and a blued barrel, lightly stamped HP on the barrel hood, no markings on either side of the lug. Accompanied by Turnbull Restoration Co. documentation referencing the pistol and restoration services. The Model 1911 was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1911 following extensive trials and served as the standard military sidearm through both World Wars.

Condition:

A wonderful professional restoration by Douglas Turnbull, surface planes flat with properly applied machine marks, most lettering having been reapplied. Comparable detailing having been directed to magazine. Grips as new. VG lightly etched bore. Correct manual mechanics. Turnbull receipt a crisp photocopy, all references easily discernible.
