The Colt Officers Model Special is a finely crafted double-action revolver built on Colt’s medium-size “E-frame", chambered in .38 Special and produced only from 1949 to 1952, making it one of the rarer variants in the Officers Model line. It features a 6-shot cylinder, a 6-inch heavy target barrel, and Colt’s renowned Accro adjustable rear sight paired with a ramped front sight, giving it excellent precision for competition and law-enforcement training. The revolver is typically finished in a deep Colt Royal Blue, with checkered walnut target grips and the smooth, crisp trigger pull that Colt revolvers of the era are famous for. Designed as a premium target revolver, the Officers Model Special represents the transitional evolution between the earlier Officers Model Target and the later Officers Model Match, combining classic Colt craftsmanship with competition-grade accuracy.
