Description:
This is a handsome sword that measures 43" overall, with a 35" straight, thrusting blade with long single fullers. The unadorned blade has an overall bright patina with areas of thin freckling along its length on either side. Clear Military proofs are present on the ricasso, with a "10 & ‘13" date on the reverse. The engraved metal cup-style guard has mostly gray-brown patina, with a shallow dent along the turned up quillon. The shagreen grip is in good shape with only tiny spots of flaking or wear, however only a single short piece of the braided wire wrap remains at the pommel end. The flat pommel is nicely embellished with an engraved laurel wreath motif around the raised annular base, and a crosshatch pattern on the face. The sword is housed in the original undented steel scabbard that has much of the original nickel finish remaining with thin bubbling present throughout. An old leather strap was added through the hanger rings, presumably to allow for wall display. This is a very good example of a desirable pre-WW1 British cavalry sword overall.; Don't forget about Free 100% Guaranteed shipping & Insurance for orders over $500 and no CC fees. ;
