Built as a true sidelock over/under, the SO2 showcases Beretta’s commitment to best-gun craftsmanship, combining precision engineering with elegant Italian artistry. Chambered in 12 gauge with 2.75" chambers, it features 28" Böhler Antinit steel barrels choked Modified (.026") and Full (.037"), making it equally suited for sporting clays, trap, or traditional field use. The gun balances beautifully at 7 lb 10 oz, with refined stock dimensions (14.125" LOP, 1.25" DAC, 1.5" DAH) and a desirable high-comb configuration that promotes a consistent, target-oriented sight picture.
This example, serial number A02377B, remains in very good overall condition, exhibiting only faint handling wear. The bores are clear, the trigger is crisp, and the action locks up tight with the smoothness expected of a sidelock Beretta. The coin-finished action is richly adorned with rose and scroll engraving covering nearly the entire surface, while the barrels retain nearly all of their original blue. The walnut stock and target-style forend feature strong, fine checkering, a right-handed palm swell, and subtle handling marks consistent with careful use. Gold medallion on pistol grip cap bearing the Olympic logo with “Monaco” above and “Montreal”. As one of the earliest expressions of Beretta’s SO line, the SO2 stands as both a highly capable shooter and a historically significant piece—an ideal acquisition for the discerning collector or serious sportsman.
