Description:
L.C. Smith No. 2 – 30” Chain Damascus – $2,150

Offered for sale is a classic L.C. Smith No. 2 sidelock, serial number 109823, built in Fulton, NY in the early 1900s. This is the heavier configuration, weighing 8 lb 1 oz, making it far better suited to clays, waterfowl, or deliberate shooting than a light upland carry gun.
Specs:
  • 12 gauge
  • 30" Chain Damascus barrels
  • Weight: 8 lb 1 oz
  • 2 3/4" chambers
  • Chokes: IM / F
  • Double triggers, extractor
  • Pistol grip stock
  • LOP: 14"
  • DAC: 1 5/8"
  • DAH: 3"
  • Original buttplate
  • Matching numbers
Condition:
An honest, original gun with no restoration.
  • Strong, visible Damascus pattern throughout
  • Barrels ring like church bells
  • Bores are bright and shiny
  • Action tight with top lever right of center
  • Screws clean and unbuggered
  • Engraving remains sharp
  • Original wood with solid checkering and normal handling marks
  • Some stress cracks present in the forend at the pull-off area
  • Coin inset in the forend (period field addition)
  • Metal has a smooth, untouched patina
The Gun:
The No. 2 grade is built on the same sidelock action as the higher L.C. Smith grades and is one of the iconic American doubles. At 8 lb 1 oz with 30" barrels, this is a steady, smooth-swinging gun — ideal for clays, waterfowl, or anyone who appreciates the feel of a substantial Fulton-built Smith.
Original Damascus-barreled examples in this heavier configuration — with uncut stock, bright bores, and strong mechanics — are getting harder to find.
