Description: This is a handy sword that measures 32 5/8" overall, with a 27 3/8" curved, single-edged blade having long single fullers and a spear point tip with 8 1/2" false edge. The blade is in fine-near excellent shape with an overall bright gray patina that has a small amount of freckling towards the tip, and clear maker’s marking on the ricasso. The hilt has a stirrup-shaped guard with single forward-swept quillon and tombstone langets, and retains 80-85% of the original blued finish, with silvering along the edges, and some scattered small spots of surface oxidation here and there. The shagreen grip exhibits minimal wear, and the braided wire wrap is slightly loose but intact. The sword is housed in an original, tightly fitted black leather scabbard that is in very good-fine condition, and retains a commensurate amount of the original finish on the throat and chape. A moderately worn Swiss military brown leather frog that the retaining strap has been split, but still looks the part and red and white woven sword knot are also included. The sword is very tight in the scabbard and does not go in all the way. This is a handsome Swiss military sword, and rates fine plus condition overall.; Price: $350.00 |
