Description: Early configuration Bern Model 1882 Swiss Military revolver in 7.5mm caliber with 4.5-inch barrel, SN: 18984, deaccessioned in 1956, one of approximately 37,254 manufactured for the Swiss Army between 1882-1950. Fixed front and notch rear sight. The left side of the frame marked with the full serial number, usual inspection markings, and later-applied deaccession date, the matching serial number repeated on the left side of the barrel and on the cylinder, the last few digits on the hammer, trigger, loading gate, ejector rod and cylinder axle. Many small parts with "214" assembly number. As typical for the revolvers with SN under 20,000, this example is fitted with vulcanized rubber grips. Rotating lanyard ring at base. Import markings as imaged. Complete with brown leather military holster marked "FELIX WIDMER SATTLER GRANICHEN" and dated "17" (1917). Designed by Colonel Rudolph Schmidt, this ordnance arm served the Swiss Army from its adoption in 1882 through World War II. Condition: VG-EXC original rust blue on major components, the deaccession "P56" stamp breaking through the finish, the strawed small parts in a comparable condition though arguably arsenal enhanced. Near excellent grips with blunted checkering but no cracks or splits. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics with each cylinder indexing properly upon slow single action cocking. G-VG oil-stained holster with scuffs, original stitching intact without repairs.
