Here is a very handsome antique Mass Arms Co. Wesson & Leavitt 31 Caliber, 6 Shot revolver being sold for a local NE Ohio Estate. This is a "diminunitve edition" of the Wesson & Leavitt dragoon.
Percussion, 31 Caliber, 6 Shot Cylinder with full factory engraving on the cylinder, lock, hammer and frame. The Barrel measures about 6 inches long and is rifled. Engraving is strong on the hammer and parts of frame and very smooothed on the cylinder.
ONLY 1000 of these were made and so it's a hard to find scarse firearm. It was patented but no date is stamped on the barrel.
Overall it measures about 11 - 1/2 inches by about 4 inches.
Barrel and cylinder are toning to a dull gray color and please note the scattered darker spots.
Brass trigger guard and back strap look to have been silver plated at one time - both show wear and loss of plating.
Could not engage half cock position but full coock seems to work just fine. Trigger did release the hammer.
All nipples are present.
Nicely hallmarked.
Original walnut grips.
Back strap has a faint engraved name of probably the original - My eyes can read "A. F. T. AExlander." There might be more but i cannot read it.
Overall a handsome and scarse antique firearm.
