Built as a hand-detachable sidelock over/under with Beretta’s double locking cross-bolt system, it represents true best-gun engineering—combining strength, precision, and ease of maintenance. Chambered in 12 gauge with 2.75" chambers, it features 29.25" Böhler Antinit steel barrels choked Modified (.029") and Full (.038"), making it equally capable on the sporting course or in the field. The gun balances beautifully at 7 lb 5 oz, and the Monte Carlo stock configuration provides a refined, target-oriented sight picture.
This particular SO4 is distinguished by its extensive, full-coverage floral scroll engraving by master engraver E. Ferrante, signed near the trigger guard—far exceeding the typically minimal engraving seen on standard SO4 models and approaching the level of an SO3 EELL. The coin-finished action is richly adorned, while the barrels retain their original blue and are marked to Armeria Perondi of Montecatini, indicating a likely bespoke commission. Condition is very good overall, with clear bores, crisp trigger, tight lockup, and only faint handling wear. The exhibition-grade walnut stock and forend feature fine checkering, a subtle right-handed palm swell, and elegant figure throughout. A rare and highly desirable custom SO4—combining mechanical excellence, bespoke provenance, and exceptional engraving—this is a true collector-grade Beretta sidelock.
