Excellent condition antique US Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle in .45-70 Government caliber. Lock is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” with the American eagle. Mechanically functions fine. Breech block is marked “MODEL 1873”. Barrel has “VP” and eagle head proof marks. Metal finish  WAS REBLUED OVER 50 YEARS AGO blue showing a little normal wear. Breech block IS BLUED NOT CASE COLORED. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has been refinished and crisp edges with a few normal handling marks. Left side of wrist has a sharp clear 1881 dated “SWP” Samuel W. Parker inspector cartouche. Underside of wrist has a “circle P” proof fired cartouche. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A realy nice example that will make an excellent addition to a collection! This rifle has been in one family its entire life of owened at one time by my friends great grandfather. His great grandfather scratched his name HIMBREE inside the stock with a pocket knife over 100 years ago.  My friend is over 50 now and its not been fired in his lifetime. He also said that the reblue took place before he got it. As you can tell by the pictures this rifle is in excellent condition for its 145 year old existance.

Will trade for SILVER as payment. Gun is heavy and oversized so shipping will be 75.00. no FFL needed ship to your door
