Description:
This is Model 1816 bayonet that is "US" "LW" marked on the face of the blade with mark of "E/a 49" near the elongated T-shaped mortise slot on the socket. Built for the Model 1816 and M1822 Muskets. It measures 18 ¾ inches overall with a 3 inch socket and a 16 inch angular blade with a short single fuller and hollow-ground back flutes. It remains in good overall condition with an overall oxidized covering. This example will not fit all 1816’s, the end edges have been rolled to decrease the diameter, being .784".;
