Description:
General Specs: DWM, c1896, 7x57mm, 8lbs. 14oz. Chokes, LOP 13 3/8"
Serial Number:  S 9774

Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer this Mauser Model 1893 and is most notable for its service in the Spanish American war. As Spain’s empire declined in the late 19th century, it sought to modernize its military and adopted the at the time new Mauser Model 1893. The Mauser 93’s design introduced many of the features we today associate with Mauser rifles such as the long claw extractor, staggered internal magazine, and flag safety. The 93 performed well in the Spanish American War despite Spain’s defeat and directly lead to the US adoption of their own Mauser action rifle in the M1903. Beyond the Spanish American War, the 1893 saw use in Africa and in the Spanish Civil war, though outdated by the late 1930’s. This example, serial number S 9774 manufactured in Berlin and was most likely manufactured in 1896 by DWM, although, the date is difficult to make out. Please note the serial numbers on this rifle do not match, the receiver, bolt, magazine floor plate, and trigger guard all have different serial numbers. The barrel retains 98% finish, and the receiver retains 90% finish with rest fading to a pleasant silver. This Spanish Mauser would make an excellent addition to any militaria collection, especially if you already own a Krag and need a rival for it! Have a look at the pictures and detailed specifications and pictures below. Thanks for looking!
