L. Arrizabalaga Double 12 Ga Beesley style assisted-Opener "Best Grade"
Used 12 Ga 2-3/4". S# 979. Bbls. 29-5/8" chopper lump w/ hand matted concave rib & white bead.
Assisted opening 7 pin detachable sidelock case colored action. Action has full coverage vine type
foliate scroll engraving that extends to the forend iron. Features include double under lug & third
bite fasteners, side clips. Gold bar pin type cocking indicators & selective ejectors. Double triggers,
front trigger is hinged. Trigger guard has a rolled right edge......nice touch. Floorplate is marked
"LAZARO/ARRIZABALAGA/PATENTE 150989".Splinter forearm w/ Anson release & straight hand
stock of fancy exhibition quality European walnut. Stock has point pattern hand checkering w/ tear
drop points behind ears & Germansilver nameplate in toeline. 14 1/4 LOP: altered to 13-3/8" over
a leather covered pad. DAC: 1-3/8". DAH: 2-3/8" Neutral cast. Bore diameter: RT .728, LT .728.
Choke constriction: RT .021, LT .040.Minimum wall thickness: RT .024, LT .026. WEIGHT: 7 lbs, 3 ozs.
Bbl. date code indicates 1947 mfg. CONDITION: bbls. retain 80% blue w/ thinning in carry areas.....
They could use a trip to Champlain Arms in Enid Ok for a reblacking.....JJ does great work.
Action retains 75% lightly & fading case colors w/ carry wear. Forearm has lightly worn finish &
checkering. Action is tight & on face w/ top lever sitting at center. Very good bright bores slight
frosting area in right bore. Last photo shows bushed and vented firing pins without crude amaturish
attemps to remove. Another "Best" grade feature.
Note: The "Opening Assist function can be disabled by removing the
spring box on the bottom rear of the barrels....don't lose!
One could order this exact look alike gun from Purdey, but.....
Wayne.....getting up there in age, over 80 now so the time has come to reduce my collection of misc. shotguns.
