These are both rare calibers for the early Model 70.  The gun was manufactured in 1941 and is in overall excellent condition with just a couple of light marks that do not break the varnish.  It has the desirable widows peak steel buttpate and a 24" barrel.  The serial numbers on the bolt and receiver match.  Very collectable piece to say the least. Overview A 1940 Winchester Model 70 is a "pre-war" bolt-action rifle, featuring a controlled-feed Mauser-type claw extractor, three-position wing safety, and a walnut stock with cut checkering. These rifles are highly prized for their all-steel construction, 24-inch barrels (standard), and superior accuracy, often considered the "Rifleman's Rifle".  Key 1940 Pre-War Model 70 Specifications: Action: Bolt-action with controlled round feeding and a large claw extractor.
