Another great item from Gainesville Pawn! Up for sale is a Colt Single Action Army. This was originally a U.S. property Calvery model. It was converted to Artillery Configuration. This gun has seen a rough life, but still is a working U.S. Artillery gun. This one was made in 1877.
The Colt SAA "Artillery" model is a 1st Generation, .45-caliber revolver with a 5½-inch barrel, created by rebuilding 17,000 U.S. Army Cavalry models (1895–1903) for the Spanish-American War. These revolvers, often featuring mismatched serial numbers, were reconditioned by Springfield Armory and Colt for the war. Reconditioned U.S. Army Colt Single Action Army Calvery models originally issued with 7½" barrels.The barrels were shortened to 5½ inches to make them more manageable.Because the revolvers were disassembled and refinished in batches, genuine Artillery models often have mixed (non-matching) serial numbers, which is considered "correct" for this variant. They were used during the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War.
