The Kilimanjaro Tusks remain the heaviest recorded modern elephant tusks weighing a combined - 209 kg (460 lb.). The left tusk weighed 105.2 kg (232 lb.) and the right 103.5 kg (228 lb.). These tusks are said to have belonged to an elephant bull captured on the slopes of the Kilimanjaro by an Omani hunter working for Tippu Tip in 1898 who had trailed it for weeks.
