Early engraved Remington-Rider double action percussion pocket pistol SN: 723 in mahogany case with black powder flask and percussion cap tin. ANTIQUE!

Description:

Antique Remington Rider Percussion Revolver, one of the first double action revolvers to have been made in quantity in the U.S, produced 1860-1873, cal .32 RF Percussion, SN: 723, engraved with 3" octagonal barrel and 5-shot cylinder. German silver drift adjustable cone front sight and groove rear sight. Two line Remington address and patent dates on top of barrel. Matching SN under barrel, inside the silvered trigger guard, on left frame under grip, and on inside of both grips near screw hole. Lightly engraved, dotted ellipsoids over barrel, the cylinder with etched floral scroll, the scroll with a punched-dot background on both sides of the frame. Checkered hard rubber/composition grips. The partitioned mahogany case lined in faded red velvet has keyed lock, unmarked brass flask for black powder, and an empty green labelled percussion caps tin marked "HICKS PERCUSSION CAPS".

Condition:

VG+ as as lightly reworked and dipped, though barrel address clear and engraving on the barrel and backstrap remains sharp with slight fading/haloing around edges. Beautifully detailed scroll on either side of the frame. Excellent original condition grips with crisp checkering and no repairs. Although action functions, neither the single action nor the double-action mode is reliable. Bore with slight erosions, easily discernable rifling. VG+ case and associated accessories. ANTIQUE!
