Description:

Colt Target Officers Model, cal. 38, with 6-inch heavy barrel, SN: 585349, made 1950, as part of Colt's premium revolver line. Subsequently fitted with King Super Target Sights, the undercut patridge front sight highlighted with the King-inset mirror. Fully adjustable rear sight with a white highlighted blade as per the later Smith & Wesson revolvers. Left side of rib marked "COLT- KING SUPER TARGET". The left side of barrel marked "COLT / OFFICERS MODEL / 38" and "HEAVY BARREL". Matching SN: "585349"on the frame and crane. Special order SA only operation (pulling trigger will rotate cylinder but not cock hammer) /checkered beavertail hammer, extra-wide checkered trigger, and finely checkered backstrap. Fitted with classic Roper grips, the bottom of one butt marked with a "B", the other with an "M". it should be noted that the Super Target upgrade package was provided by the D.W. King Gun Sight Company of San Francisco, California, and included the ventilated rib with mirrored front sight and fully adjustable rear sight for enhanced target shooting performance. These premium target revolvers were hand-fitted and tuned, making them highly sought after by competitive shooters and collectors, with the King upgrade package adding significant value to the standard Officer's Model Heavy Barrel.

Condition:

EXC as professionally restored, now with 99% blued finish. Rib and barrel markings crisp, the rampant Colt on the sideplate easily visible. Roper grips, oil darkened, with a scattering of handling marks, minimal separation between panels. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics.
