The Iver Johnson “DEFENDER 89” Revolver . They were marked  with several different Brand names.  Only produced 1889-1899. 5 Shot in .32RF.  The revolver is equipped with a 2 ½ ” round barrel, The bore is  good with minor pinprick pitting from blackpowder use indicating minimal wear and showing strong rifling. The revolver retains most of its original nickel finish with a minor scratching freckling, and handling marks.  This is very minimal and does not detract significantly from the revolver's overall condition.  Markings on the barrel are clear and legible.  The original hard rubber eagle design grips are in excellent condition with a small chip repair done to the bottom left.  The action of the revolver functions well mechanically . The hammer holds in half and full-cock position with a strong hammer spring. Appears to have good timing and just a tiny bit of  cylinder play at lock-up.

The current condition of the item listed has been described to the best of my ability . Please examine the photos and text thoroughly for description and condition.
Antique guns are sold as collector items only with no representation as to their safety to shoot or use.

Revolvers of this type were widely sold as affordable personal-protection arms during the period when American catalog retailers supplied rural customers with firearms through mail-order sales. Today, Iver Johnson. revolvers represent an interesting example of the late-Victorian era American firearms trade and the widespread distribution of inexpensive revolvers through catalog houses and hardware merchants across the country.
This revolver is a good example of a rare and historically significant firearm from the late 19th century.   As an antique firearm, it holds historical significance of its era. The revolver's condition, combined with its specific year of production and model, adds to its desirability among collectors.
