Description:
On consignment we have a Springfield model 1870 Trapdoor rifle in .50 centerfire. This is one of 11,553 type rifle manufactured from 1870-73, using Civil War era Springfield locks. This rifle has an 1863 dated lockplate, and 32-1/2" barrel. The bore is frosted throughout, but has no deep pitting. Stock has been sanded, and shows handling wear, but no chips or cracks. All markings on barrel and lock are clearly legible.
