Offered here for sale from Hansen & Hansen located just steps away from the original Ruger factory in Southport, CT and just acquired is a very fine Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight .30-06 Rifle with Redfield 5-Star 2x-7x rifle scope. Serial number 569908 it mfd late 1962-early 1963 production.
Over the years and through our operation of the Ruger Collectors Assc. (RCA) we have handles literally thousands of Ruger firearms during our more than 5 decades in the business. It was acquired from the collection of a well known firearms industry past President Stephen Sanetti.
Mr. Sanetti joined Ruger in 1980 as the company’s first General Counsel (chief lawyer) and over 2 decades worked his way up through senior leadership. He became President in 2003 as well as Chief Operating Officer. After Ruger he became head of the industry National Shooting Sports Assc.
The Model 70 is a classic in sporting firearms. The Featherweight model is very desirable due to lighter barrel contour, and typically 22"–23". Caliber: .30-06 it has fine factory cut checkering a hallmark of pre-64 quality. The rifle retains almost all finish with only light use overall. It comes with a very fine Redfield 5-Star 2x–7x scope (period-correct quality optic which are clear and has a sporting sling. We term this as a collector grade rifle in excellent condition with all optics sharp. It is inspected by our in house gunsmith before shipping. Comes with our unconditional guaranty as we are the oldest FFL in Connecticut (over 5 decades), home of the Ruger collectors Assc. (RCA). Just a bit of dried oil on parts and some "peach fuzz" which we will clean off before shipping.
Pre-1964 Model 70s are prized because they feature:
