Description: GREIFELT & SUHL NO. 1 – 20 GA – OVER/UNDER – FACTORY GAME SCENE ENGRAVING – PRE-WAR GERMAN SUHL GUILD GUN – EXHIBITION WALNUT – ROUND KNOB LONG TANG – UPLAND FIELD CONFIGURATION Price: $7,500.00 Offered by Peterson Collective is a pre-war Greifelt & Suhl No. 1 over/under shotgun chambered in 20 gauge, representing a superb example of traditional German Suhl guild craftsmanship. Manufactured circa 1930s, this finely built upland shotgun reflects the peak era of pre-war European gunmaking, where each firearm was individually fitted, finished, and often enhanced with engraving and exhibition-grade wood for discerning sporting clients. This example features factory-applied game scene engraving, adding a level of artistic refinement well beyond standard field production guns of the period. The shotgun is fitted with 26 1/8” solid rib barrels, offering excellent balance and fast handling characteristics ideal for upland bird hunting and instinctive shooting. The barrels exhibit bright, shiny bores with strong internal condition throughout. Choke configuration is fixed at Modified and Improved Cylinder, providing a highly effective and versatile pattern spread for close to mid-range upland work, consistent with traditional European field gun design. Stocked in fancy exhibition-grade walnut, this example displays attractive figure and depth throughout both the buttstock and forearm. It is configured with a round knob, long tang stock profile, a classic Germanic design known for its elegant lines and excellent pointability. Stock dimensions measure a 14.25” length of pull, 1 3/8” drop at comb, and 2 1/8” drop at heel, offering a natural, slightly straight European fit that promotes quick target acquisition and consistent mounting. Weighing just 6.08 lbs, this shotgun carries exceptionally well in the field while maintaining enough forward weight to provide smooth swing dynamics. The balance is lively and responsive, making it an ideal upland hunting companion. The shotgun is equipped with a single Miller-style trigger and automatic ejectors, both of which function as intended and enhance the efficiency and speed of follow-up shots in the field. Mechanically, the action locks up tightly with the precision expected from Suhl guild production, reflecting careful hand-fitting and traditional German engineering. The overall condition is excellent, with strong metal-to-wood fit and well-preserved engraving and finish consistent with a well-maintained pre-war sporting firearm. Overall, this Greifelt & Suhl No. 1 over/under is a highly desirable upland shotgun, combining factory game scene engraving, exhibition walnut, light weight, and refined German craftsmanship. It represents an exceptional balance of beauty and function, ideal for both serious field use and fine European shotgun collections. Shipping is $50 to a licensed FFL.
