Description:
"NSN. Manufactured circa 1771–1795, chambered in .76 caliber,43 ¼"" round smoothbore barrel. The barrel has a smooth brown to dark grey patina consistent with age and long service. The lock plate is marked “CORBAU LEIEUN/AMASTRICHI," indicating Dutch manufacture at Maastricht. The escutcheon is marked “N:JJ," signifying New Jersey militia ownership, an important -Revolutionary American state marking. The stock is good, showing light handling marks and scratches while retaining solid overall integrity. The barrel was originally pinned and later updated with three brass barrel bands, reflecting period modifications for continued use post war. The action holds at both half and full cock, remaining mechanically functional. An example of this musket can be found in “Battle Weapons of the American Revolution by George C. Neuman Page 113.
