Introduced in 1919, the Savage Model 19 NRA Match Rifle was designed in collaboration with the NRA and competitive shooters as a bolt-action .22 LR target rifle. Roughly 40,000 to 50,000 were produced by 1937, with an additional 6,000 provided to the U.S. War Department during World War II. It was later superseded by the Model 1933.
