Description:
For sale is a civil war era JM Cooper Navy style revolver. While externally it appears to be a colt navy copy this gun is mechanically completely different from most of the other contemporary revolvers with it being a double and single action revolver. The mechanism also differs from the colts with cut safety notches in the cylinder rather than the safety pins present on the colts. This allows for a much studier mechanical safety. The single action trigger pull is surprisingly stout but comfortable, while the double action is very heavy.

According to the collector I got this from it's considered NRA Good condition, showing wear consistent with age and use while retaining good mechanical function. The metal surfaces show a natural aged patina with scattered handling marks and light oxidation visible on the barrel and cylinder, while the brass trigger guard and backstrap display a pleasing period patina, some of which have rubbed onto the grips. The wood grips are good with expected handling marks for its age. The bore is described as dull to bright with visible rifling. The barrel address/patent marking is faded but mostly legible. Lock up is a tad loose before full cock is engaged, however when fully cocked the lock up is tight. There's some play in the cylinder when hammer down, however because this is the only example of this revolver I've handled I do not know if that's normal. While I have shot it and can confirm it can mechanically shoot, please have a professional gunsmith look over it before shooting it.
