Description:
For sale is a mid-WWII production Japanese Nambu Type 14 pistol, manufactured in October 1942 at the Toriimatsu factory of the Nagoya Arsenal. Serial number 55996.

This is a "First Series" example featuring the enlarged "Winter" trigger guard, designed to allow Japanese soldiers to fire while wearing heavy gloves. It is an authentic piece of Axis military history that has remained in remarkably consistent condition.

I try to be as clear and accurate as possible but PLEASE look very closely at the pictures and description below.

Key Features & Specs:
  • Manufacturer: Nagoya Arsenal (Toriimatsu)
  • Date of Production: October 1942 (Showa 17.10)
  • Caliber: 8mm Nambu
  • Serial Number: 55996  Matching # on frame, trigger, and internal grip panels.  I’ve not taken it apart to check the bolt.  Both original wooden grip panels are stamped on the inside with the matching partial serial number "5996" on the interior, a detail often lost to time or replacement.  A non-matching magazine is included with the purchase.
  • Grips: Original slab-sided mahogany grips with deep horizontal serrations. Both panels are matching to the gun.
  • Finish: Original military blue showing honest wear and patina. Standard thinning at the high edges and barrel from holster wear.  There is some pitting on the sides of the barrels.  Please review photos closely.
  • Holster: Accompanied by its original leather clamshell-style holster. Stitching  is missing on the end of one loop and the leather remains supple enough for display.
Pictures tell the story! This is a vet-bringback style pistol that would look great in any Pacific Theater collection.

Condition Notes:
  • Metal: The pistol retains a high percentage of its original military finish with some light freckling, pitting and minor surface handling marks consistent with field use. No significant corrosion.
  • Wood: The matching grips are in solid shape with no cracks. The serrations remain relatively sharp.
  • Bore: Clean with strong rifling; minor frosting consistent with the use of corrosive primers during the era.
