Brief Company History:
The Manhattan Arms Company was a significant player in the firearms industry during the mid-19th century. Founded in 1856, it was based in Newark, New Jersey. Condition: Nice overall bore with a light oxidation. Barrel and cylinder retain a nice gray gun-metal patina. most of the original blue has worn away with light oxidation speckling. The cylinder engraving scene is very faint. The frame is mostly a ocher patina. The smooth walnut grips are in very fine condition retaining almost all of the original varnish with some minor handling marks. Very attractive grain figuring on the grips. The barrel markings are clear and legible. The barrel to frame fit ok . The action is functional with very good timing and lock-up.
Due to their historical significance, limited production numbers,, Manhattan Arms Co. pistols are highly sought after by collectors of antique firearms. This pistol represents a rare and historically significant firearm. Its innovative design and limited production make it a prized collectible for enthusiasts of antique firearms.
