Description:
This sale offers a 12 gauge William Powell & Son shotgun, serial number 11284, equipped with 30” Damascus barrels chambered for 2 ½” shells and choked improved cylinder (.008) and skeet 2 (.012). The address on the rib is William Powell & Son, 35 Carr’s Ln., Birmingham. This gun definitely won’t win any beauty contests but is a solid gun by a well known Birmingham gunmaker. It locks up tight and is on face. The barrels show a nice Damascus pattern and have slightly dark but very good bores. The finish on the barrels remains very good. The water table is marked nitro proof for 1 1/4 oz shot. This is an ejector gun. However, the right ejector doesn’t work. It could be an easy fix. The finish on the receiver has turned silver and is marked William Powell & Son. The stock and forend are actually in good condition with an English style grip and nice checkering with a Kick Eez recoil pad. This would be a great fix’er upper for a vintager out there. This is a pre-1898 gun that will ship directly to the buyer.
